Jonathan M Hagedorn, MD

Dr. Jonathan (Jon) M. Hagedorn was born and raised in southern Minnesota and graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN with a B.A. in Health and Exercise Science. He then attended Chicago Medical School where he graduated with a Doctorate of Medicine (MD) in 2012. He completed three years of Orthopedic Surgery residency followed by his Anesthesiology residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. He then completed an Interventional Pain Management fellowship at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. He is board-certified in both Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA).

After fellowship training, he stayed on as a faculty member at Mayo Clinic. Serving as Director of Neuromodulation, he led the spinal cord stimulation, intrathecal drug delivery (i.e. intrathecal drug pump), and peripheral nerve stimulation practices within the Division of Pain Medicine. He was actively involved with the training of residents and fellows in both the clinical and procedural aspects of pain medicine.

Beyond his clinical roles, he serves on multiple national and international committees dedicated to pain management and the safe use of neuromodulation, and has been invited to speak about these topics worldwide at lectures and conferences. He has published over 60 peer reviewed journal articles related to pain management, along with multiple book chapters, and serves as an editor for the Pain Medicine journal. Dr. Hagedorn is involved with educating other physicians and trainees on advanced pain management techniques. As iSpine’s Director of Clinical Research, he continues to innovate and progress the field of chronic pain management with the latest state-of-the-art technologies.

Dr. Hagedorn’s approach to pain management is to create a multimodal treatment plan for the specific symptoms and pathology of each individual patient. He has a particular interest in minimally-invasive, advanced interventional pain management strategies with a focus on implantable therapies and neuromodulation, including spinal cord stimulation, dorsal root ganglion stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, and intrathecal drug delivery. He strives to treat each patient with respect and empathy, and is dedicated to providing his patients with a better quality of life.
